AARP driving class planned Nov. 30
Kona Palisades Association is sponsoring an AARP Safe Driving Class at 1 p.m. Nov. 30 at the Palisades Recreation Center on lower Kaiminani Drive.
The class is geared toward the older driver and does not include any scored written tests or driving test. It does include several informative, unscored quizzes, on subjects that may affect older drivers, such as hearing, sight, reflexes, safety rules, rules of the road, intersections and drinking and driving. All materials, student workbooks and videos have been updated.

GVS Accelerator meeting Friday
Hawaii’s creative entrepreneurs in film, television and digital media will have “All Access” to the GVS Accelerator from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Honua Studios, 73-4855 Kanalani St., Kailua-Kona.
The GVS Connect giga-hub in Honolulu will officially come online for the GVS All Access event, which will feature real-time collaborations between Honolulu, Kailua-Kona and Los Angeles. The two-time SBA award-winning Accelerator Program is set to showcase industry A-listers and entrepreneurs for the multifaceted event that will offer creative lab workshops; panel discussions; focus groups and a pitch contest hosted at Oahu’s Foreign Trade Zone No. 9.
Speakers include Jim Krueger, comic book writer of “X-Men,” “Superman and “Batman;” Mike Frank, co-founder of Level 3; Dale Johnson, producer of “Lost City of Z” and “Pawn Sacrifice” and Michael Van Dyck, Paradigm Talent Agency.

Campbell named Fresh Island Fish CEO
Fresh Island Fish has named Tim Campbell as the company’s chief executive officer, effective Nov. 30. The company’s founder and current CEO, Bruce Johnson, will become chairman of the board, with plans to expand the business into emerging markets.
Campbell, who is Johnson’s nephew, brings more than 30 years of commercial real estate and marketing experience to the company, most recently serving as the western regional managing director for GE Capital. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Southern California.
Johnson began his career in Hawaii’s seafood industry in the late 1960s on the deck of a commercial fishing boat. He became a captain at the age of 21, eventually purchased several fishing vessels and subsequently founded his seafood distribution company in 1977.
Trunk Trainers hosts open house
All are invited to stop by Trunk Trainers in the Kaloko Light Industrial Area during its open house from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Personal trainers and fitness experts will be on hand to provide advice, demonstrations and training. Light refreshments will be served.
